Good morning Jillibean Soup fans! I am happy to be back with another Trendy Tuesday post. We are going to switch things up a bit here on Tuesdays, and have our Tuesday series be more of a "Hey, how'd they do that?" or "How do I use this?" or etc. I think you get the idea.
Today, I want to share with you a creative way to use Jillibean Soup cut files from the Silhouette store to spice up your project.
Some of my favorite cut files that I own are the Jillibean Soup shapes - used alone, or in a group mixed together, you can create some awesome things. My absolute go to shapes are simple ones, except when it comes to words. I love words. The Jillibean Soup Wise Words to be more specific. Created by Jill Yegerlehner, the Big Bean herself, using her own handwriting, the Wise Words come in various sayings that are perfect for many projects.
If you don't own a Silhouette, don't fear, you can do the same thing using the quick and easy sticker version of the Wise Words too, just a smaller size.
For my page, I chose a simple Wise Word and made it larger, pretty big in fact, almost four inches across for each 'you.' I cut several different 'you' shapes out of some of my new and old favorite Jillibean Soup papers in the Spicy Social Soup, Birthday Bisque, and, of course, the always handy Soup Staples II. Because I cut so many different colors, I didn't want it to be too cluttered on my page. So, I chose a simple white cardstock background. If you make yours using a monochromatic color scheme, a fun patterned paper would be a great background too - just be mindful of all the color going on!
I chose to layer my 'you' shapes along one side of the page, and left the other side open for another fun Jillibean Soup product that I knew would be perfect! Once all the shapes were where I wanted them, I added some stitching to the rows to secure them in place. Totally not necessary, but hey, I love stitching, so why not!
From there, I was set to use one of my favorite Jillibean Soup products of late - Placemats. You can either purchase these pre-made or cut your own by purchasing through the Jillibean Soup Silhouette online store.
I chose the photo frame version in white, but any of the Placemats would work here, layering tone on tone white, so as not to compete with the colorful background on the other side of the page. I tucked in a photo and a lot of great Jillibean Soup Stickers, Flash Cards, Wood Sprinkles, and Wood Nickels throughout.
If you used a different Placemat, like the hexagon or lattice shape, you could also add a few pieces of patterened paper or Hexies shape stickers for small touches of color to this side of the page.
I added a little more stitching and some stamping with Jillibean Soup clear stamps to add some detail to some of the frames.
Here is my completed project:
Patterned Paper: Fresh Vegetable Soup/Stalks of Celery; Sightseeing Stew/Blanched Bags, Sauteed Sights, Grilled Geocache; Spicy Social Soup/1 Part App, 2 Parts Tweet, Taste of Texts, 3 Parts Friends; Birthday Bisque/Cup of Candles, Smidgen of Sweets, Bowl of Bows; Chilled Cucumber Soup/Peeled Cucumber; Soup Staples II/Turquoise Salt
Mini Alphas: Sightseeing Stew
Wood Sprinkles: Travel
Placemats: White Frames
Wooden Nickels: Life
Pea Pod Parts: Spicy Social Soup
Flashcards: Spicy Social Soup
Clear Stamps: Typewriter
Coordinating Label Stickers: Spicy Social Soup
Silhouette Cut Files: Wise Words "You"
I hope you are inspired to create your own fun background using Placemats and cut files by Jillibean Soup!
