Puffy Tree Tutorial by Aly Dosdall
Supplies needed:
several different green patterned papers
circle punches of various sizes (or circle cutter)
paper piercer
embroidery needle
green embroidery floss
dimensional foam squares
green buttons (optional)
kraft or brown cardstock
Punch circles from patterned papers in various sizes. Each “puff” on the tree needs two circles of the same size and pattern. Place a dimensional foam square in between two matching circles (wrong sides in).
With a pencil, mark lightly where holes need to go for the hand-stitching. Then pierce the holes with your paper piercer or a large sharp embroidery needle.
Using two or three strands of embroidery floss, stitch the two circles together tightly. Secure loose ends with scotch tape on the bottom side.
Cut a tree trunk shape out of brown or kraft colored cardstock. I printed a tree image from google images on the back of my cardstock first and then cut it out. Add “puffs” of different sizes around the trunk, and if you’d like, some buttons for added texture and visual interest.
You can also create a sun with a scalloped circle punch, a regular circle punch, a dimensional foam square, and hand-stitched rays.
Thanks Aly!
Have a good one!
