Do you have lots of items sitting around your craft room that you use for one purpose only or perhaps never use because you're not quite sure what to do? I have many such products that I'm starting to force myself to use more often so I know I'm getting the most out of my stash. It's Melinda with you today and I am going to share a simple way I use my stencils/templates/masks for stitching instead of misting and also how I use the patterns on my paper as built-in templates.
Flipping the paper over and placing it onto my layout I used a hand-held embossing tool to create an impression as a placement guide. I could have used pencil but I never seem to be able to erase it completely.
Using the cut-out pieces as a guide I placed them onto a selection of patterned paper pieces and cut more triangles slightly larger than the original cut-out piece. This overhang guarantees that you won't have any background showing through the gaps.
Each new cut-out piece was carefully adhered in position onto the background cardstock.
I positioned foam pop dots around each triangle cut-out so it would appear slightly raised once I positioned the entire sheet onto the layout.
Now, I have shown you how to create your own template using existing patterned paper but I also want to finish with another way I use my factory-made templates/masks for stitching. It seriously is simple yet an effective way to get a wonderful stitched heading. I placed the mask in position on my layout and pierced stitching holes as evenly as I could around the words and then simply stitched my heading using a fun ombre thread that changes colour as you go.
I probably used slightly smaller spaced stitches than I normally would, however I really wanted to achieve a the best results with my curves on each letter.
