Hello Friends,
It's Kristine with you today and I'll be sharing a shaker card and 2 tags using Jillibean Soup stamps. I created 3 fun holiday projects using the clear stamp set “Snow Globe” and a masking technique. This will be a fun and easy tutorial for you after which you can create your own. I have a complete list of supplies required at the bottom of this post and please feel free to comment if you have any questions.
The first is a card “Merry & Bright“. I used the large circle shaker card but I did not use the cover. This is optional and would certainly add even more dimension and interaction with this card.
Before I start I gather all my supplies including a post it note!
I stamp my image in the center of the shaker card. This can be stamped on any card surface but a shaker card is ready to go and adds so many dimensions to my card.
Once I stamp my image on the card base I want to create a “ mask “ By stamping on a post it note I can create an image that is the same as what I stamped and make a cover up for my ink blending. I stamp on the post it note which is sticky on the entire back surface not just the top. I cut my stamped image and create a mask for my card.
Once my mask is adhered to the surface I can cover up my stamped image and use an ink blending tool to create my blue sky. Since the mask is on my real image it will protect it and enable me to ink around the image.
I used a pencil and traced a light circle around my image to create my background. It gives me an idea of how large my background needs to be to be scene properly when the card is closed. I use a piece of cardstock to create a line between my snowmen and the background. It gives you the illusion that the snowmen are on a white snow covered surface.
Once I have done some ink blending on top of my mask I am ready to remove it. It’s really that easy! The post-it is sticky but it will not damage my card base. Once the background is finished it’s time to do some coloring and decorating. I used some Zig Clean Color Markers for my design and of course adding some snow using a gelly roll pen is mandatory ;)
This is really a fun technique and using this stamp set makes it easy to create some great Christmas Tags and Cards. I have a few more examples below using the same technique.
A Season’s Greeting shaker tag using the mason jar. I created a winter scene using the same stamp set.
I did use the same supplies for this tag but I added some heat embossing to the stamped snowflakes.
Creating this tag was just as easy as the first one. You can do this!
I did this tag by doing the same steps:
- Stamping on the surface
- Creating a mask for my trees
- Heat embossed some snowflakes
- Add some ink blending on the entire surface.
The heat embossing on the snowflakes allows me to do some ink blending on top without damaging my design. Once I was done with adding snowflakes and white dots my tag was complete!
I have a third project which is another Season’s Greetings tag. You can use a variety of shape shaker surfaces for this stamping technique and for this one I created a tag from the same card bases.
These little tags are fabulous on a bottle of wine for your party hostess!
I hope I have inspired you to create some stamping on shaker tags and cards today and of course if you do please share them with us on social media with hash tag #jillibeansoup.
