Have you had the opportunity to stamp with some of the fabulous stamps from Jillibean Soup yet? There are so many fun stamp sets and dies that can be used to create just the perfect card for any occasion. Today I am sharing cards that are for the Dads and the Grads in your life using the newly released 2 Cool For School clear stamp set. For my first card ‘Too Legit’ I created a background using one single sentiment strip from the 2 Cool For School clear stamp set. I went old school and grabbed a pencil and a ruler to make the lines on the panel to stamp on.
Too Legit Dad Card
Stamped background for the Too Legit Dad Card Instructions:
Step 1: Start off by creating faint diagonal pencils lines on a 5.5” x 4.25” piece of white cardstock. I used my MISTI tool along with a triangular ruler to evenly space out my lines moving the ruler by one inch between each line. Watch the video below these instructions to see how I did that.
Step 2: Using the Too Legit stamp from the 2 Cool For School clear stamp set, stamp the sentiment repeatedly along the lines using grey ink.
Step 3: Trim the panel down to 5.25” x 4” and adhere it to a 5.5” x 4.25” piece of 2 Cool For School Wild Child paper.
Step 4: Use the 2 Cool For School die cut Alphas to spell the word Dad and adhere them to your card using 3D foam squares or foam tape positioning the A overlapping the two D’s in the middle for interest.
Step 5: Add the ‘best ever’ sentiment from the 2 Cool For School Co-ordinating Stickers on the top left of the card and then add the ‘seize the day’ sentiment from the 2 Cool For School Puffy Stickers in the bottom right.
Make the World Spin Grad Card
Have you ever tried to create an ink blended background before and have you ever blended over a white embossed background? Magic!
Blended Background Make the World Spin Grad Card Instructions:
Step 1: Take a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock and use an anti-static tool over the surface. If you don’t have one a dryer sheet will do the job!
Step 2: Arrange the gear stamps from the 2 Cool For School clear stamp set on the panel and then stamp with embossing ink, I used VersaMark for mine. Sprinkle with white embossing powder and then heat emboss the panel.
Step 3: Pull out your ink! I chose to use three colors of ink, I always work in odd numbers. I used Distress Oxide Inks but you can use any die inks you have. Blend the panel until you are satisfied with the results. Take a paper towel and wipe the ink off of the gear images to expose the beautiful white underneath.
Step 4: Next put a bit of water in your hands and flick it over your ink blended panel. Put a clean paper towel over it to absorb the water and remove a bit of colour. You don’t have to use Distress Inks for this it works with any die ink. Some work better than others.
Step 5: White emboss the “Gearing Up To’ sentiment on black cardstock and cut into a strip. Stamp the Make the World Spin in the bottom right corner.
Step 6: Staple to ‘Gearing Up To’ sentiment to sponged panel and then adhere it to the card base with foam tape. Finish it off by attaching a few Shaker Wood Veneers - Flowers, they actually look like gears in this setting.
Shape Shaker Coffee Card
I wanted to share one more card showing you how quick and easy the Shape Shaker Stamps and Dies are to use. My dad loves his coffee so is only seems fitting to make him a shaker of his favorite brew and of course the adorable Corgi had to sit on the cup to remind him of the Corgi we had when I was growing up.
Shape Shaker Coffee Card Instructions:
Step 1: I stamped the Corgi from the 2 Cool For School clear stamp set on the Shape Shaker Coffee Cup Card Base and then colored him with Copic markers.
Step 2: I stamped a sentiment underneath the cup. Then I added some of the hexagon 2 Cool For School Puffy Stickers around him. Finally I used the letters from 2 Cool For School Co-ordinating Stickers to spell ‘Dad”.
Step 3: A 5.25” x 4” piece of the Way Cool patterned paper was adhered into the inside of the card.
Step 4: The shaker was filled with some Sequins Oranges Fillers fillers and the sticky band on the Shaker Coffee Cup Insert was removed before the card base was pressed together.
