Hello Jillibean Soup friends! Marcia here today. I am in the middle of a craft room purge/refresh. It seems like every January I find myself in this situation. The layouts from the past year make it out of my Kallax cubby and into scrapbooks. I even managed to clear off the top of my scrapbook desk! Cleaning up makes me rethink my storage solutions to analyze if they are still working. One of my favorite organizational solutions was to place a white eraser board above my desk, not to write on, but for its magnetic qualities. I keep small items like buttons, pins, and brads in magnetic cases that I can stick up on my board. They are within easy reach and I find that if I see the stash that I have, I am more likely to use it. I also place photos I want to scrap up here. It helps to remind me so when I find the perfect papers, my photos are ready to go. I don’t have a lot of wall space for cute signs, so I thought, “What the heck, put some vinyl on your white board!”
I chose the When Life Gets Blurry Adjust Your Focus. This quote spoke to me the minute I saw it, not just because I love my camera and taking photos with it. Three years ago, my husband had a stroke, at age 54! He had a stressful job, wasn’t exercising regularly. His blood pressure and cholesterol were too high. We knew we had to make some serious changes. We did physical therapy and we cried when limbs didn’t do what they once did. He started taking blood pressure and cholesterol medication. We had to make new plans for our future, plans that involved him retiring at age 55 and me continuing to work a lot longer. On the tough days, this quote draws me out of my pity party. We are so blessed that my husband has only slight weakness on his left side now. Life threw us a curveball and we dealt with it. If we get tossed for another loop, I know we can handle it together, we just have to adjust our focus!
