When it comes to decor in your home, do you prefer rustic farmhouse or city sleek? Or maybe you can’t decide and like an eclectic mix! Marcia Dehn-Nix will show you how you can personalize some of our new Mix The Media houses to make anyone feel more welcome in your home. She decorated one of our new Rustic Solid Wood Houses with the Home Sweet Home digital cut file available in the Silhouette store.
If you can resist the urge to keep these beautiful houses for yourself, they make the perfect house warming gift! Marcia gave this painted one to her niece and her husband who just bought their very first house. #giveback2020
Marcia cut the design out of a glossy vinyl using her Silhouette Cameo. Any color will do because the vinyl will be used as a stencil. Transfer the vinyl to the front of the wood house.
To avoid seepage under the stencil, Marcia recommends that you apply a coat of decoupage or Mod Podge first. Let dry, then apply a white chalk paint using a stencil brush. It’s important to apply paint with taps and not brush strokes. Chalk paint is much thicker than acrylic paint and has less tendency to seep underneath your stencil. Once dry, remove the vinyl.
If you’re not into that rustic look, then check out this slick version on a Galvanized House.
The Welcome To Our Home cut file cut from black matte vinyl makes a striking contrast to the galvanized metal.
